(About Dan Home) (Last) (Next) Phillip Hasn't Forgotten"I assure you, my dear mid-fielder and former goal scorer, he hasn't forgotten about you." "Huh?" "He asked me only yesterday where you were." "Oh, boy," said Dan, remembering the bargain he'd struck with Phillip. "He's very proud of his progress, you know." "Good for him," said Dan sarcastically. "Yes, indeed, good for him. I promised we'd both be at his first meet. That's only four months away. Put it on your calendar." Peter wagged his finger. Dan grinned, feeling as though he'd released a heavy burden. "I'll do just that. Maybe I'll be caught up with school by then." "And how is your chemistry paper coming?" "It isn't." "Huh?" It was Peter's turn to be surprised. "I haven't done anything with it. I haven't even started." "Dan, you're going to flunk chemistry!" "And nearly everything else. And Dr. Jones says when my cast comes off I'll be starting physical therapy every afternoon. As in every afternoon." "Have you seen a counselor?" "No." "Dan, Dan, Dan. I have to follow up on so many things." "And so how are you doing in chemistry?" asked Dan. "Marvelously. Indeed, through sheer willpower, I may pass. In other words, not well." Peter looked at Dan sheepishly; they both laughed. "It's your turn at the joystick, you know," said Peter. "Of course. But you're hogging the chair." "That can be fixed. Sit, young man." He rose. |
