"Father in Heaven," he began. "Thank you for a wonderful day."
Strong feeling
"Is this feeling from you?"
Same.
"Thank you for a nice conversation with mom."
Same.
"Will my leg get better eventually?"
Same.
"What should I do about my homework?"
Different. Why? What’s it mean?
"Is my mom going to be ok?"
Totally different.
"Father, what are you trying to tell me? I wish I knew what you were trying to tell me."
Back to strong.
"Father, I don't know what you're trying to tell me. But I love this feeling now that I have it. I’ll talk with Brother Sam on Sunday, ok?"
Feels like an affirmation.
"Thank you Father. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
He pulled himself to his feet and then into his chair. He set his crutches against the wall and hobbled over to his computer. One of his e-mails was a mildly bawdy joke from a soccer teammate. The feeling just left! Horrified, he deleted the e-mail, but the feeling didn't want to come back. He felt sad. There was so much about the church he didn't understand. So much, in fact, that it was overwhelming.
A thought came into his mind that he should call Brother Sam now, but he shoved the thought out of his head as being stupid. Brother Sam was with his family, after all. He'd talk with him on Sunday. He thought of his homework, but decided that Thursday was far too early to start homework. It was a holiday, right?
The other e-mail was from his Dad.
And?
Dan typed back.
Negative. Hallelujah. Happy Thanksgiving.
