(About Phillip Home) (Last) (Next) Confiding"Dear Heavenly Father, I had my interview with the bishop today. I’m gonna be ordained a priest in a week. Doesn’t seem like I’m that old. That means I’ll be in the same quorum as Dan and Justin. Grant and I won’t be together in priesthood meeting for another three months until he turns 16. "I tried to talk with the bishop about Dad, but I don’t think he understands what it’s like. Not every kid in the ward has Lance Maceda as a father. Even Richard said in his e-mail that Dad’s a special case. Can you believe Dad told the bishop to have Dan ordain me? I mean, that’s ok, right? But I feel kind of abandoned, like Dad doesn’t care, you know what I mean? I guess I’ll ask Dan this week if he’ll do it. I hope he doesn’t have Peter with him; Peter’s not a member; he won’t understand what I’m asking about. "Father, I don’t know what to do about Matthew. Last week he stuffed some anti-Mormon literature in my locker. I’m pretty sure it was Matthew even though there was no name on it. It was stupid stuff; I threw it away. Can you do something about Matthew? Soften his heart or something? At least Luke is polite; Matthew’s a jerk. I guess I shouldn’t be calling one of your children a jerk, should I? He’s still a jerk, though. Y’know, I thought persecution happened way back in Missouri and Nauvoo and nowadays everyone is used to Mormons. Why is it happening to me today? Can’t you make it stop? "By the way, is it ok to take Melanie on a date? She’s not a member." He paused to assess his feelings. "Ok, I’ll go ahead. She seems nice. And she’s willing to take the bus. "Anyway, Father, I gotta go to bed. Dad was extra nice after church. I don’t know what he’s up to. He kissed Mom while she was making dinner; he never does that. I wonder what’s going on." |
