(About Phillip Home) (Last) (Next) Why Can't Matthew Apologize?"Phillip!" The meet was halfway over and Phillip would be queuing up in a few moments. He turned to see Luke coming toward him. An alarm bell went off inside his head. "Hi, Luke. Did you qualify?" asked Phillip warily. Luke grinned. "I qualified in Boulder, but I did better today. It’s nice going into Regionals with a good time." "Cool. I didn’t qualify in Boulder. I gotta do it today." "You’ll do fine. You shouldn’t have any problem considering the way you ran against Anderson. Too bad it wasn’t a regular meet—I heard you set a track record." Phillip smiled at the memory. "Yep." Luke cleared his throat. "Uh, Phillip, about Matthew…" Phillip stiffened. "What?" Luke seemed embarrassed. "I know he’s been giving you a hard time." Phillip turned to face him but said nothing. Luke went on. "He shouldn’t be doing that. I’m trying to get him to stop. I work with him at our fellowship, you know." "Yes, I made that connection." "Anyway, I want to apologize for him." "That’s cool, but can’t he apologize for himself?" Luke was sheepish. "I suppose so. Anyway, he’s giving our fellowship a bad name. I’m sorry he’s behaving that way." "Well, thanks. He’s been a royal pain in the…" "PHILLIP! TIME!" Phillip spun around to see Coach Johnson waving at him frantically. "Gotta go, Luke." "Good luck! Maybe we can talk some more…" began Luke. "Later," yelled Phillip over his shoulder. |
